Scientists Need More! Next Level Science using AI Tools

Target group

This workshop is open to doctoral and postdoctoral researchers of all faculties (with a focus on natural sciences)

Content

Would you like to

  • work more efficiently and effectively than ever before?
  • conceptualize ideas more effectively with the help of AI tools?
  • save time during the literature search and review?
  • produce easy-to-read text for cover letters, social media, grants, and scientific papers?

AI-based tools revolutionize scientific writing by enabling researchers to work more efficiently and effectively. Yet, these tools must be used cautiously and with a clear understanding of their limitations.

Because AI-tools will take your science to the next level.

Objectives

After taking part in this workshop, you will be able to:

  • improve your literature review
    • find sources
    • extract key claims
    • summarize key information
    • link your work to previous studies
  • optimize different types of text writing and generate text from scratch
    • scientific texts
    • social media posts
    • tweets
  • conceptualize ideas concerning strategic and experimental planning
    • select relevant scientific questions
    • find scientific experiments to address your specific questions
    • research controls in experimental setups

Methods

Throughout the course, we will use questions, material, texts, and ideas from the participants. We will feed content, suggestions, and questions from the participants as input to the AI tools. A small number of case studies and exercises will help participants to apply the concepts and tools to their own scientific research.

Requirements

We will use Zoom and you will need a PC/laptop with video camera, microphone, headset/speakers, and a stable internet connection.
