Small Talk at Scientific Conferences and Beyond

Target group

Doctoral & postdoctoral candidates of all disciplines.

Small talk and networking are both essential components for any scientist looking to advance their career and build new collaborations. It can be, however, a daunting task, especially for those who are introverted or new to the field. In this seminar, you will gain a deep understanding of the fundamentals of engaging in small talk in academia and beyond.

We will practice a number of best-practice techniques which will help you to have meaningful and pleasant conversations and establish lasting relationships with colleagues and peers. There will be plenty of time to discuss individual questions about specific small talk situations and sustainable networking. This is a 100% interactive and practical seminar, so get ready to actively participate in the workshop and have fun!
